Inquire Within... the Minds of these Brilliants
These have all greatly affected me in some way,
many of them propelling me to do things like,
start this blog,
when it would be so much easier to do meaningless work for the rest of my life.
I hope the same and more for you...
Just reach for the highest. Human beings cannot live without challenge. We cannot live without meaning. Everything we ever achieved we owe to this inexplicable urge to reach beyond our grasp, do the impossible, know the unknown. The Upanishads would say this urge is part of our evolutionary heritage, given to us for the ultimate adventure: to discover for certain who we are, what the universe is, and what is the significance of the brief drama of life and death we play out against the backdrop of eternity.
Today, like every other day, we wake up empty and frightened.
Don’t open the door to the study and begin reading.
Take down a musical instrument.
Let the beauty we love be what we do.
There are hundreds of ways to kneel and kiss the ground.
Live your dreams in your heart and let the universe move everything to bring your dream to you.
Feel your dream, feel the presence of the universe inside you.
Know that they universe is with you.
Guiding you, and then allow the universe to realize your dream.
— The Secret
Laugh the whole way to God’s temple.
Finding the center of strength within ourselves is in the long run the best contribution we can make to our fellow men…
One person with indigenous inner strength exercises a great calming effect on panic among people around him. This is what our society needs — not new ideas and inventions; important as these are,
and not geniuses and supermen, but persons who can “be”,
that is, persons who have a center of strength within themselves.
— Rollo Myay, Man’s Search for Himself
So here’s my advice: study broadly and without fear. Learn a language if you can, because that will make your life more interesting Read a little bit every day. But more importantly, surround yourself with people who you life and make cool stuff with them. In the end, what you’re doing isn’t going to be nearly as interesting or important as who you do it with. —John Green
There is a candle in your heart, ready to be kindled.
There is a void in your soul, ready to be filled.
You feel it, don’t you?
Whenever possible, it is best to seek work we love and to avoid work we hate.
But sometimes we learn what we need to avoid by doing it.
Individuals who are able to be economically self-sufficient doing what they love are blessed.
Their experience serves as a beacon to all of us, showing us the ways right livelihood can strengthen self-love, ensuring peace and contentment in the lives we lead beyond our work.

The goal isn’t more money. The goal is living life on your terms. —Chris Brogan
For things to reveal themselves to us, we need to be ready to abandon our views about them.
—Thich Nhat Hanh
Come, come, whoever you are. Wanderer, worshiper, lover of leaving.
It doesn’t matter. Ours is not a caravan of despair.
Come, even if you have broken your vows a thousand times.
Come, yet again, come, come.
The only way the we can live, is if we grow.
The only way the we can grow is it we change.
The only way the we can change is if we learn.
The only way we can learn is it we are exposed.
And the only way that we can become exposed is if we throw ourselves out into the open.
Do it. Throw yourself.
--C. Joybell C.
Vulnerability is the only authentic state. Being vulnerable means being open, for wounding, but also for pleasure. Being open to the wounds of life means also being open to the bounty and beauty. Don’t mask or deny your vulnerability: it is your greatest asset. Be vulnerable: quake and shake in your boots with it. The new goodness that is coming to you, in the form of people, situations, and things can only come to you when your are vulnerable, i.e. open.
—Stephen Russell, Barefoot Doctor’s Guide to the Tao: A Spiritual Handbook for the Urban Warrior
You are absolutely terrifying. Not because you are bad. No, no. Because you are beauty and goodness. You are… love. And these humans will run from your open arms. You’ve got the big blue world in your tiny ass hands. And there. You. Stand. Soldier of the sky. You light up the night with your singing eyes. And when you are sad, even the devil cries. You are the lullaby. You unbreak us all.
—Erin Van Vuren
Life will break you. Nobody can protect you from that, and living alone won’t either, for solitude will also break you with its yearning. You have to love. You have to feel It is the reason you are here on earth. You are here to risk your heart. You are here to be swallowed up. And when it happens that you are broken. or betrayed, or left, or hurt, or death brushes near, let yourself sit by an apple tree and listen to the apples falling all around you in heaps, wasting their sweetness. Tell yourself you tasted as many as you could.
— Louise Erdrich
Better indeed is knowledge than mechanical practice.
Better than knowledge is meditation.
But better still is surrender of attachment to results,
because there follows immediate peace.
— Bhagavad Gita
Your task is not to seek for love,
but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built.
Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don’t settle. —Steve Jobs
When you are inspired by some great purpose, some extraordinary project, all your thoughts break their bonds: your mind transcends limitations, your consciousness expands in every direction, and you find yourself in a new, great and wonderful world. Dormant forces, faculties and talents become alive, and you discover yourself to be a greater person by far than you ever dreamed yourself to be.
It is only when the correct practice is followed for a long time,
without interruptions and with a quality of positive attitude and eagerness that it can succeed.
Sloth is the great enemy — the inspirer of cowardice, irresolution, self-pitying grief, and trivial, hairsplitting doubts. Sloth may also be a psychological cause of sickness. It is tempting to relax from our duties, take refuge in ill-health and hide under a nice warm blanket.
Admit it. You aren’t like them. You’re not even close. You may occasionally dress yourself up as one of them, watch the same mindless television shows as they do, maybe even eat the same fast food sometimes. But it seems that the more you try to fit in, the more you feel like an outsider, watching the “normal people” as they go about their automatic existences. For every time you say club words like, “Have a nice day” and “weather’s awful today, eh?”, you yearn inside to say something forbidden things like, “tell me something that makes you cry” or “what do you think déjà vu is for?”. Face it, you even want to talk to that girl in the elevator. But what if that girl in the elevator (and the balding man who walks past your cubicle at work) are thinking the same thing? Who knows what you might learn from taking a chance on conversation with a stranger? Everyone carries a piece of the puzzle. Nobody comes into your life by mere coincidence. Trust your instincts. Do the unexpected. Find the others…
For a star to be born,
there is on thing that must happy:
a gaseous nebula must collapse.
This is not your destruction.
This is your birth.
It’s all a fucking
you get naked
Be strong then, an enter into your own body; there you have a solid place for your feet…
just throw away all thought of imaginary things, and stand firm in that which your are.
— Kabir, Indian Mystic Philosopher
Learn the alchemy true human beings know.
The moment you accept what troubles you’ve been given,
the door will open.
Live where you fear to live.
Destroy your reputation.
Don’t be satisfied with stories,
how things have gone with others.
Unfold your own myth.
One major step to human progress, discipline.
If there’s one thing to get excited about that’s it.
Get excited over making yourself do the necessary things.
The biggest adventure you can take is to live the life of your dreams.
People say walking on water is a miracle,
but to me walking peacefully on earth is the real miracle.
—Thich Nhat Hanh
Logic will get you from A to B. Imagination will get you everywhere.
Everything changes one we identify with being the witness to the story, instead of the actor in it. —Ram Dass
RELAX : |ri-laks| - v. to reduce intensity: SLACKEN; to relieve from effort or strain; to take one’s ease: REST; to become less formal, aloof or tense
Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is relax — Mark Black
We are traveler on a cosmic journey, stardust, swirling and dancing in the eddies and whirlpools of infinity. Life is eternal. We have stopped for a moment to encounter each other, to meet, to love, to share. This is a precious moment. It is a little parenthesis in eternity. — Paulo Coelho
Yoga, after all, is not an escape from life but a way of taking yourself into life’s pulsing heart. It will inevitably lead you to your own vulnerability, to your raw places. But vulnerability also opens the door to love, grace, and the deepest forms of healing. Your vulnerability, scary as it can be, is inseparable from your capacity for intimacy and creativity and love. —Sally Kempton
...and four years later you’re dancing around your kitchen with a pint of milk in your hand. the windows are open wide, the neighbors are still awake, and they they are watching you. they are watching you fall in love with being alive. —Morsus Engel
My dear, in the midst of hate, I found there was, within me, an invincible love…
in the midst of chaos, I found there was, within me, an invincible calm.
I realized, through it all, that…
in the midst of winter, I found there was, within me, and invincible summer.
And that makes me happy.
For it says that no matter how hard the world pushes against me,
within me, there’s something stronger — something better.
Sometimes you need to sit lonely on the floor in a quite room in order to hear your own voice and not let it drown in the noise of others.
The spirit of a warrior is not geared to indulging and complaining, nor is it geared to winning or losing. The spirit of a warrior is heard only to struggle, and every struggle is a warrior’s last battle on earth. Thus the outcome matters very little to him. In his last battle on earth a warrior lets his spirit flow free and clear. And as he wages his battle, knowing that his intent is impeccable, a warrior laughs and laughs. —Carlos Castaneda.
What matters most is how well you walk through the fire. - Charles Bukowski
Sensitivity is a sign of life. Better hurt than hardened. I bow to those who keep their hearts open when it is most difficult, those who refuse to keep their armor on any longer than they have to, those who recognize the courage at the heart of vulnerability. After all the malevolent warriors end each other, the open-hearted will inherit the earth.
If you wish to be a warrior, prepare to be broken,
if you wish to be an explorer, prepare to get lost
and if you wish to be a lover prepare to be both.
Anything I cannot transform into something marvelous I let go of.
If you have good thoughts,
then will shine out of your face like sun beams and you will always look lovely
— Roald Dahl
To find your mission in life is to discover the intersection between your heart’s deepest gladness and the world’s deep hunger. -Frederick Buechner
The crazy thing is that you believe your gifts and dreams are for you. But they’re not. They’re for all of the people who need your heart, your passion, your words, and who you are at your core. They more you delay becoming yourself and chasing your dreams, the longer you withhold your gifts from the very people who need them. So, your fears have a price. And that price is compromising yourself and the people who need you. And the way out, well… that’s pretty simple. Just be you. Speak from our soul. Just start. I really wish is was more complicated… but it’s not.
Whatever you think you can do or believe you can do, begin it.
Action has magic, grace and power in it.
Action is movement with intelligence.
The world is filled with movement.
What the world needs is more conscious action. — BKS Iyengar
Spirituality is not some external goal that one must seek,
but a part of the divine core of each of us, which we must reveal.
- BKS Iyengar
Creating authentic power means aligning your personality with your soul.
Don’t date a mystic, if you want the life you have. If you are comfortable and cozy, stay away. Whatever you have built around yourself to create comfort: it cannot stand in the blazing fire of a mystical woman. She is no trophy. She is no bodily pleasure-maker. She os the seer of souls. She is the womb that births the divine into the flesh and bone of matter. She doesnt meant o run your village to the ground, but she has seen what you are meant to become. You are not a peasant sheering sheep, as you have thought. You are a king dressed in rags who has amnesia. — Alison Nappi “The Gypsy Priestess"
I have come to drag you out of yourself, and take you in my heart. I have come to bring out the beauty you never knew you had, and lift you like a prayer to the sky.
You could interpret the story of Hanuman, then, as a parable of what happens when you recognize the divine nature of life, offer yourself in service to it, and allow it to transform you in ways you never thought possible, so that you are even more capable of serving your highest ideals. When you approach the pose with such inspiration, you’re likely to enjoy your journey, no matter how far you go. —Bernadette Birney via Yoga Journal

It’s a state of consciousness.
